John Cartwright set out on a journey to find out why the Beothuk ( boeothick ) Peoples were treated so badly by Europeans. The map shows a drawing of a Beothuk home. Their living quarters were called mamateeks ( lower left of map ). They also built caribou traps also shown on the map.
