The young in all the swan families are grey untill they mature. Remember the story of the ugly duckling? It was a Swan.

The Mute Swan that is found in many of our parks; has adapted to the wild. It is a beautiful sight as it swims with an s curve in the neck and it's wings spread in an arch; or as they dip their heads to feed in that graceful arch. It's bill is orange rather than the black of the Trumpeter Swans. They are very protective of their young, and that warning posture along with the hiss had better not be ignored.
