The Hermit Thrush is a member of the Thrush Family Family Turdidae. Although I have never seen one before I realized it looked a little like a young Robin. The male is spotted brown with a reddish tail and the Female; seen here; is grey. They habitually raise and lower their tails. They have one of the most beautiful songs of any bird. Their range in Canada is west and north east.
I am beginning to understand the mentality of birders as I search for new birds to photograph. It is total joy to find these birds that you have never seen before. It is also frustrating; I found this bird among a lot of people garbage. I have had exceptional success with the Downy, Hairy, Nut Hatches and Chic-a dee's. They always seem to find me, and end up on me or even in my pocket. It brings too mind this thought Enjoy God's Creation; Its There For Our Enjoyment; Not Our Destrction.
