The Northern Shoveler is another migrant. They are a smaller duck, and have a rather large bill that they use in a shovel like manner. Its the male that sports the color. The feathers look a bit like a wool scarf wrapped around the birds to keep them warm.

Their range is Northern North America; where they may be found on lakes and ponds. They stop over in the GTA; on their way up north and back again in the fall when they head south.
