The American Goldfinch is seen in the Rouge, and has a very characteristic undulating flight. Its colour is bright yellow with black wings, tail and cap. It's song is a canary like, a " ti-dee-di-di or per-chik-o-ree " It feeds on a variety of seeds and will visit your bird feeder. You usually see them flying in pairs or sometimes groups.

Scarlet Tanager ..... ( Piranga olivacea ) may be found in the Oak Ridges Moraine. We can give you just a glimpse of the bird. It's bright scarlet with black wings and tail, and it's song is a "chip-burr". They live on insects and fruit. Some people call it the Cathedral Bird, because it sings high up in the trees.
