Barred Owl ..... ( Strix varia )

The Barred Owl is found in woodlands and dry wooded river
bottoms. It is the only owl with brown eyes; all other owls have
yellow eyes. It's appearance is a gray-brown with a pattern

across its chest; from which it gets it's name. It has white spots on the back. The voice is higher pitched than the Great Horned Owl, and call is a series of hoo's ending in it's signature aw ..... hoo hoo-hoo hoo hoohoo-hoohooaw
They live on rodents, birds, and insects.
