These are called Sponge Mushrooms. They were found in Duffins Creek forest area growing beside a path. It is edible, but caution suggests never eat any red- pored Boletes, because others are poisonous and if you made the wrong choice your may find yourself in trouble.

Remember unless you are an expert on fungi, do not harvest any wild mushrooms for food, the dangers are just too great.
