Satyrs appear in shades of dull brown or grey, and have a number of eye-spots. It is rather difficult to tell each other apart, with colour variations and the number of eye-spots and size being difference. The eye-spots have less detail from the top of the wing view; with the underside view showing more detail. The eye-spot is thought to be a defense mechanism, designed to confuse predators. Their flight pattern is somewhat erratic; near or on the ground and then up onto a tree branch. They pause move in a circle and then if your lucky spread their wings to display.
These are wild berries, which turn almost black when ripe.
