When I was a just a boy, I put my arm through a similar nest, which
was hidden on a fence post. I was picking blue berries. I saw
this beautiful cluster of berries on a bush, but I didn't see the
nest. It was a life lasting experience. Many years later I found this one; (Bottom Image); and as you can see the owners are present. The nests consist of a single comb inside an insulated paper shell and is used only once. Only the Queen survives the winter the others dieoff.
