The American Painted Lady Butterfly appears in major summer and fall migrations. It is found in fields, along roadsides and butterfly friendly gardens. They feed on nectar from many flower species, but are partial to yellow flowers. The differences between the American Painted Lady and the Painted Lady are the two large eye-spots on the lower wing. ( See Right Panel ) The white markings on the upper wings tips are fewer in number; and it has two large blue spots on the upper hind wings.
