Trilliums are members of the Lily Family and were named the Official Flower of Ontario. Several species are found in the watersheds. The rootstalk's of the plants were used by First Nation Peoples to cure a variety of aliments. They collected them and chewed on them. The Purple Trillium was used by herbalists to treat gangrene. Trilliums flower April through June. They do not transplant well.
