Meadow Salsify ( Left ) is often mistaken for Yellow Goats beard which is
very similar in appearence. The difference is that the stem does not swell.

Provinces this plant is considered a weed. The basal leaves may be
eaten raw or cooked as greens. It blooms May thru August. It
seeds form a hairy ball, and are spread by the wind, birds or
