Once trapped to the point of extinction for their fur, beaver are making a come back in Canada. That European fashion statement; the felt hat; nearly caused the beavers demise. These very strong swimmers, like slow moving water, and can stay submerged for up to 15 minutes. They build dams and lodges with sticks, logs, and mud. They live on leaves, buds, twigs, and the bark from deciduous trees. Pointed tree stumps in an area, is a good indicator of beaver activity. I have seen Beaver in Amos Pond and this year (2010) in Humber Bays Park.
